White Systems Star Controller is capable of operating one Storbot inserter/extractor and a stack of two carousels (called a cell).

The Star Controller unit contains an industrial motion controller that features an embedded PLC. It consists of a card rack, passive backplane, processor card, DC power supply, and cooling fan housed in a NEMA-12 enclosure.

Pushbuttons and indicator lights in the enclosure door allow the operator to start, stop, reset faults, and monitor the operation of the cell. A warning buzzer, mounted in the side of the panel, gives a five second warning after the cell has been enabled for motion. A red, amber, and green stack light mounted at the top of the enclosure gives a visual indication of the cell's operational status.

An Operator Interface Terminal (OIT) located in the door, allows the operator to setup, monitor, test and exercise the system. The OIT consists of a backlit alphanumeric display and keypad.

Each Star Controller unit requires a customer supplied power feed of 460 V AC, 60 Hz, 3 Ph, at 60 A
