With security options ranging from simple locking doors and electrically
activated deadbolts to advanced access systems including automated
single access and mini-doors, magnetic strip swipe card readers, and
biometric security devices, White has a security system available to
meet even the most stringent requirements.
Product Theft or Loss
According to the US Chamber of Commerce, employee theft adds up to $50
billion dollars a year and accounts for 20% of all business failures.
Manufacturing companies, distributors, retailers, and any type of
business that deals with tangible products are vulnerable to employee
pilferage. To help fight this problem the National Federation of
Independent Business recommends that "Ongoing systems must be put in
place for tracking inventory from the moment it is ordered, through
arrival, storage and ultimate shipment, use or disposal."
Privacy Protection
By
enacting HIPAA and the GLB Act, the Federal Government has established
that businesses must protect an individual’s health and financial
information. As a result, healthcare and financial industries are
implementing security measures guarding against unauthorized access to
protected documents and records.
Layers of Security
For businesses serious about theft prevention and privacy protection,
the obvious first step is to secure facility entryways and exits. The
next step should be to secure inventory, documents, and records. White
Systems Vertical Carousels provide an efficient means to store and
control access to valuables and confidential documents.
Vertical Carousel Secure Storage
A
vertical carousel is an automated storage and retrieval device
consisting of a series of carriers (pans) mounted on a vertical
closed-loop oval track, inside a metal enclosure. Product is stored
fully enclosed in the carousel.
White Systems vertical carousels offer three levels of security. The
first level incorporates a single point of access that can be locked by
key. This system allows full access to the entire contents of the
carousel and requires the operator to manually close and relock the
carousel door after use.
The second level uses a single opening with an electrically operated
lock. The carousel can be configured with either manual or automatic
door operation. Access is gained through the use of a password, magnetic
swipe card, or biometric device. Pans cannot rotate until the door is
shut and automatically locked. The advantage of this system is that it
limits access to only one pan and tracks the identity of the carousel
operator.
The third level of security employs electrically operated locks and
restricted access mini-doors. Normally, when the main access door is
open, the entire contents of a carousel pan are available to the
operator. When the main access opening is fitted with mini-doors, the
operator can access only an individual compartment or tray. The carousel
can be configured with either manual or automatic door operation. Access
is gained through the use of a password, magnetic swipe card, or
biometric device. Pans cannot rotate until the door is shut and
automatically locked. The system tracks the identity of the carousel
operator.
In addition to access control, White Systems Vertical Carousels can be
equipped with Spectrum Plus inventory control software and built-in bar
code, RFID, or IR tag readers to help keep track of inventory.
